Weight Loss by Drinking One of the World's Most Popular Beverages - Tea

Forget fasting, starvation diets and strenuous exercise. Weight loss could be as easy as brewing a cup of tea several times a day, since this is already a popular pastime of the western world. This seems like an ideal solution to the perfect body, however there is one catch.

There are several types of tea available on the market and the most common being black tea. And I know for sure that this really is a popular tea with the British getting through 165 millions cups per day!

The Catch

Unfortunately, as much as we (especially the Brits) love black tea we need to move towards the more exotic variety of teas including Green, Oolong, Pu-erh, Porangaba, Okinawan, Feiyan, and several herbal varieties. All of these provide the following benefits.

Metabolism Boosting

Replacing your cup of regular black tea with a cup of green tea has been shown to significantly increase the body's metabolic rate and therefore speeding up weight loss. Pur-erh tea also has been shown to have a similar effect on the metabolism.

Increasing Energy Levels

Porangaba tea has been recently shown, particularly in the media, to have a dramatic effect on energy levels whilst suppressing the appetite, therefore making it easier to shift those excess pounds.

Health and Longevity

Okinawan tea is always being promoted for its health benefits, namely because the Okinawans are known for having one of the longest life expectancies in the world and have very few issues with obesity. Clearly, this may not all be down to them drinking tea as they also have a nutritious diet filled with plenty of fish and vegetables. However, the tea will certainly play a part in their slender figures and longevity.

Cholesterol and Body Detox

Feiyan tea is made with several different ingredients including lotus leaves, cansia seeds, vegetable sponge and green tea. It boasts several slimming benefits such as reduced bloating and detoxes the body as well as possibly reducing blood fat and cholesterol levels.

Herbal

Herbal teas that include dandelion or nettle can help eliminate excess water and therefore reduce weight. Fennel which is also found as a secondary ingredient in many herbal teas has appetite-suppressing properties which help with your weight loss program.

As you can see tea has many weight loss benefits but remember it is only a part of your weight loss journey. Merely drinking tea will not have a significant effect on reducing your weight, since this can only really be achieved when you follow a weight loss program. Of course whether you are on a weight loss program or not drinking tea is always good!
